There had better be a heck of a lot of May flowers.
Ever hear that old adage, “April showers bring May flowers”? It is just pouring here today. Don’t know if you’ve ever been in this building when it storms, but there is something about how the roof is constructed that makes it sound like it’s going to blow off at any moment. My little black car and Becky’s Jeep are getting a good bath out there. (Still working on the picture thing. Be patient with me. Trial and error….with a lot of both.)
I just realized that when John set up this blog he put “Adventures in working @ your LYS” as the subtitle. Sort of a DUH moment for me not to have noticed that. Working at a yarn store is a bit of an adventure, but it’s also a real inspiration in all sorts of ways. Certainly, working around such rich and varied colored fiber makes me want to create constantly, but it’s the people; the customers that inspire me every single day. It is such a joy to see a person start to feel comfortable and start to open up about their lives, hopes, dreams. I never ceased to be surprised and amazed and enriched by each person that comes in. Today there are a little group of knitters that braved the rain sitting around the table sipping coffee, knitting, and talking about life in general. It’s a really comforting feeling to be here typing this, listening to their voices carry throughout the shop with the rain pounding on the roof.
I guess adventures come in all shapes and sizes. Some are huge and exciting and others are quiet and lovely. Each one enriches us in different ways.
In yarn news, a shipment of Brown Sheep came in the other day, so if you’re in the mood for felting, we’ve got just about every color you can imagine. Lots of black, which is hard to keep in stock. (I, myself, am quite the fan of the black.) Also, two more days left in the Luxury for Less sale. 40% off some really incredible luxury fibers like silk and cashmere.
Stay dry. The flowers are coming!
Peaceful knitting,
Holly
