Romance in the yarn store.
This morning a very nice man walked into the shop. Any time a man comes through the door is a minor event in itself, but this man had a jewelers box in his hand. He, bless his heart, wanted to surprise his dear wife by hiding the box inside a ball of yarn. We all promptly got in line to be his new girlfriend. What a sweetie. Trina helped him pick out a fabulous purple skein of Cascade 220 and I rolled the skein around the jewelers box, tied it with a nice pink bow (I confess that the picture above is a reenactment. I didn’t think fast enough to take a picture when he was here. The pink bow on his yarn offering was a wonderful organza and much more suiting such a special gift.) and placed in a nice white bag. He was pretty tickled by how the whole thing turned out, but no where near as thrilled as we were to help him. His creative and thoughtful offering of love really made my day. Maybe my whole week.
I hope you received the shop email telling you about the afghan we’re knitting for Nella. Our dear friend Nella has been fighting a courageous battle with cancer and it’s becoming clear that her days are growing short. To offer a tangible object of our love and respect for Nella and her amazing family we are asking customers to knit a 7 X 9 inch square that will be combined to create an afghan. Pattern suggestions can be found at the Warm Up America website. If you have any questions you can feel free to call us here at the shop (815-282-5481) or email me at holly@uniqueyarnsinc.com. Squares need to be turned into the shop NO LATER than Friday, April 25. Thanks in advance for your loving spirits.
I think that’s all the news for this week. As the weather turns warmer our thoughts are turning to cotton and we have it in abundance. Stay tuned for exciting news about an upcoming contest. (this is gonna be BIG!!!!)
Peaceful knitting,
Holly
